Taylor Swift Endorses Kamala Harris for 2024 Presidential Election
Pop icon Taylor Swift has officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president in the 2024 election. Swift, known for her influence on young voters, announced her support in a detailed Instagram post following the recent presidential debate.
“Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most,” Swift wrote. She explained that Harris represents the causes she believes in and praised her leadership and selection of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.
“I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos,” Swift added.
In her post, Swift also took aim at misinformation, referencing AI-generated images falsely showing her endorsing former President Donald Trump. Swift said these images highlighted the need for transparency, urging voters to do their own research.
Swift's endorsement of Harris is her second major political stance, following her support for Joe Biden in 2020. Harris-Walz campaign merchandise has already added friendship bracelets, a nod to Swift’s fanbase, known for creating and trading them at her concerts.
The endorsement follows rumors that either Swift or fellow megastar Beyoncé might make an appearance at the recent Democratic National Convention, though neither ultimately attended. Beyoncé has already given her support to the Harris campaign by allowing her song “Freedom” to be used as its anthem.
