Texas teacher, son arrested for allegedly recruiting troubled students for prostitution
A high school cosmetology teacher and her son from Klein, Texas, were arrested for allegedly recruiting runaway students to work as prostitutes.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez announced the arrest of 42-year-old Kedria Grisby and her 22-year-old son, Roger Magee, on charges including child sex trafficking and compelling prostitution.
Grisby, employed at a Klein ISD high school, is accused of aiding Magee in recruiting teenagers from her workplace, offering them a hotel room as part of the recruitment process.
Court records presented during the proceedings revealed text exchanges between a female complainant and Magee, discussing payment via Zelle for prostitution services, with Grisby allegedly funding the hotel room where the incidents occurred.
The victims, aged 15, 16, and 17, were reportedly runaways and students at Grisby's school. The investigation has led to additional teens coming forward, accusing Grisby of similar recruitment attempts during school hours.
In a statement from the school district, officials informed families of the situation and assured them of immediate action taken upon notification by law enforcement. Grisby was placed on administrative leave and will not return to the school or district.
The district emphasized its commitment to cooperating with law enforcement and ensuring the safety of students. Grisby remains held on a $750,000 bond and is restricted from contacting witnesses or unsupervised interactions with minors.
Roger Magee, arrested in November 2022, remains in jail. The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Trafficking Unit.
