TikTok star, 23, breathes unaided for the first time in 2 months after hit-and-run crash
A TikTok star has reached a significant milestone in her recovery following a tragic hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of her roommate.
Camryn Herriage, 23, had been on a ventilator for two months after the collision in Dallas that also involved her college roommate and three other friends on February 11. The devastating incident occurred when their vehicle, waiting at a red light, was struck by a Ford pickup truck, resulting in the death of Camryn’s friend Sara House, 22.
Recently, Camryn’s uncle Tim Herriage shared positive news on Facebook, revealing that his niece had been breathing unaided for over 24 hours for the first time since the crash. He mentioned that a speech therapist would evaluate her ability to use voice control, which could potentially lead to speaking again and the possibility of removing the tracheostomy. Additionally, there is hope for Camryn to transition to a regular room within the next week.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Camryn's group was identified as 27-year-old Carmen Guerrero, described as "extremely intoxicated." She fled the scene but was later apprehended and is now facing charges including manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Sara House was fondly remembered in a GoFundMe campaign that raised significant funds, highlighting her compassionate nature and her ability to bring joy to those around her.
Camryn Herriage, known for her TikTok presence with over 32,000 followers, was close with her roommates and often shared moments with them on her profile. She works at a social media management and branding company based in Lubbock, Texas, and her recovery progress is being closely followed and supported by her online community and loved ones.
