Tragic Electrocution in Mexican Resort: American Tourist Killed, Wife Injured in Hot Tub Malfunction

A devastating incident unfolded at the Sonoran Sea Resort in Puerto Penasco, where an American tourist lost his life and his wife suffered critical injuries while relaxing in a hot tub. Authorities suspect that the malfunctioning device may have caused electrocution, leading to this tragic outcome.

The 43-year-old man, identified as Jorge G. from El Paso, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene, while his wife Lizette Z. was rushed to the US in critical condition due to life-threatening injuries. Reports indicate that Lizette Z. showed signs of electric shock burns, hinting at possible faulty wiring in the hot tub.

Witnesses recall the harrowing moment when they discovered the couple motionless in the hot tub. Efforts to assist them were met with further shock, prompting a distress call for help. The cause of death is yet to be officially determined as investigations are ongoing.

Sara Gaitan-Perez, an Arizona resident staying at the resort, recounted her futile attempts to aid the victims, highlighting the suddenness and severity of the incident.

As authorities delve into the circumstances surrounding this tragedy, questions loom about the safety protocols and maintenance standards at the resort. Despite attempts to gather comments from the resort management, no response has been obtained at the time of reporting.
