Trial Begins for Former Las Vegas Officer Accused of Killing Porn Addict Ex-Son-in-Law For Watching Extreme Videos
The jury trial of Pamela Bordeaux, a former Las Vegas police officer accused of murdering her ex-son-in-law, Sean Babbitt, commenced earlier this week. Bordeaux, 60, faces charges of murder with the use of a deadly weapon. Her defense claims Babbitt was a "dangerous character" with troubling behavior, including an addiction to extreme pornography.
Bordeaux, a retired Las Vegas Metro PD detective, allegedly shot Babbitt, 32, at least ten times in her home in April 2019. "I shot him," Bordeaux admitted to officers in body camera footage from the day of the incident. Despite the serious charges, she was released after posting a $1 million bond.
At the time of his death, Babbitt was visiting his child—Bordeaux's grandchild—under court-approved arrangements. Bordeaux's defense team argues that Babbitt posed a significant threat. A report from forensic psychologist John Paul Garrison, filed just before the trial, suggests Babbitt's impulsive behavior, addiction to extreme pornography, and lack of adequate therapy heightened his propensity for violence.
Garrison's report references various records and communications between Babbitt and his ex-wife, revealing admissions of deviant behavior. In several exchanges, Babbitt confessed to finding standard pornography unsatisfying and admitted to watching explicit content involving animals and incest-roleplays. He also indicated struggles with potential multiple personality disorder, referring to one of his online personas as "Max."
Additional details from the report include Babbitt's drug use, specifically heroin, and a 2015 notarized letter in which he renounced his parental rights, declaring himself an unfit parent.
The trial, expected to last about two weeks, will examine these claims and the circumstances leading up to the fatal shooting.
