Police in Michigan have arrested a hospital employee accused of shooting and wounding a coworker Thursday morning in a northern suburb of Detroit. The incident prompted a lockdown at the medical complex and nearby schools.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody less than three hours after the shooting, following a large multi-agency police response and a thorough search of the hospital. The suspect was located at a residence in Macomb Township.

The victim, a 25-year-old man from Troy, sustained two gunshot wounds to the arm and is in stable condition. Officials described the shooting as a targeted incident between the two individuals.

The shooting occurred at 7:08 a.m. in a parking garage at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital. Hospital security reported that five shots were fired, also striking the victim’s vehicle.

Law enforcement officials praised the swift response of multiple agencies in securing the hospital and ensuring the safety of staff and patients.
