Trump Found Guilty on All 34 Counts in Hush-Money Scheme to Influence 2016 Election

In a landmark decision, Donald Trump has been found guilty of all 34 counts of falsifying business records in a criminal hush-money scheme aimed at influencing the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.

After less than twelve hours of deliberation, a jury delivered the verdict in what marks the first criminal trial against a former U.S. president. This outcome poses a significant political challenge for Trump, the leading candidate for the Republican nomination, whose poll numbers have remained steady throughout the trial but are now at risk of plummeting.

The jury of 12 New Yorkers convicted Trump of felony falsification of business records, which involves making false entries with the intent to commit a second crime. The Manhattan district attorney’s office alleged that Trump falsely recorded reimbursements to his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, who paid adult film star Stormy Daniels $130,000 to silence her about an affair with Trump, as “legal expenses.”
