Two Brighton fans stabbed by masked gang in Italy ahead of Roma game
According to local media reports, two Brighton fans were stabbed in the Italian capital ahead of a Europa League match with Roma. The incident occurred in the Monti neighborhood just after midnight, where the victims, aged 28 and 29, were attacked by a group of seven individuals wearing masks.
The victims sustained stab wounds to their legs and were robbed of their wallets and documents during the assault. Police responded to the scene and have initiated an investigation into the matter.
The 28-year-old victim was transported to San Giovanni hospital after sustaining three stab wounds to his left thigh, while the 29-year-old was taken to the Umberto I Polyclinic for treatment after being stabbed multiple times in the right thigh. They were discovered bleeding on the ground by a restaurant worker on Via di Monte Polacco.
Brighton is scheduled to face Roma in the first leg of the tournament's round of 16 match at Rome's Olympic stadium on Thursday afternoon.
