South African artist Tyla may have brought a touch of her homeland to Los Angeles as stars graced the Grammy red carpet amidst rainy weather, seeking refuge under tents to stay dry. The atmospheric river that hit California, the second in recent times, resulted in flooded roadways and power outages across the state.

During an interaction with Associated Press journalist Gary Hamilton on the red carpet, Tyla playfully acknowledged the coincidence of the weather, especially considering her breakout amapiano hit, "Water," had become a social media sensation. She humorously stated, "It was definitely a sign."

Tyla is part of a significant representation of African acts at the Grammys this year. Notably, she received a Grammy for Best African Music Performance, a newly introduced category at the Grammys this year.

Expressing her deep connection to African music, Tyla emphasized, "People don't understand what African music means to me. I grew up in a time of the genre developing." Her recognition and award at the Grammys underscore the global impact and recognition of African musical contributions.
