A Washington state Uber driver allegedly raped and kidnapped an intoxicated passenger, only to be stopped when the victim's gun-toting father and family rescued her during the assault.

Ahmed Ali, 58, appeared bruised and bandaged in court on Monday, facing charges of second-degree rape and first-degree kidnapping with sexual motivation. According to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, Ali picked up a highly intoxicated woman early Saturday after a night out with friends in Olympia.

Ali allegedly used the Uber app to make it look like he had dropped the victim off at her destination but took her to a secluded area where he reportedly raped her.

A friend had ordered the Uber for the victim, who was too drunk to go home alone. The friend watched her get into Ali's car at 12:17 a.m. However, instead of taking her to her home, Ali allegedly drove her to a secluded fishing spot near the Nisqually River, an hour away from Seattle. The Uber app falsely indicated that she had been dropped off at her destination.

The victim’s friends, concerned when she didn't arrive home, alerted her father, who tracked her location using the Life 360 app. The father and other family members rushed to the scene, finding the woman naked in the back of the Uber being assaulted. Ali attempted to flee but was beaten by the enraged family. The father also fired two shots at Ali, both missing.

Deputies later found Ali's car and discovered him severely injured. The victim, too intoxicated to consent, did not recall the incident. The Life 360 app showed her phone had been moving for 23 minutes past the Uber drop-off point.

“Marking the victim as dropped off in the Uber app, yet continuing to transport her to another location, demonstrated the suspect’s intent to conceal her location where he believed no one could find her so that he could sexually assault her,” Thurston County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Rudy Breteler said.

The victim’s friends arrived at her house about 30 minutes after she had been picked up and became worried when she was not there.

Thurston County Superior Court Judge John Skinder set Ali's bail at $100,000 and ordered him to wear a GPS monitor if released. Uber condemned the incident, stating, "We take reports of this nature very seriously and removed the driver’s access to the platform as soon as we were made aware of the incident. We have a dedicated team ready to assist law enforcement with their investigation."

Ali is scheduled for an arraignment hearing on July 2.
