UNIZIK students move to raise N2m ransom for kidnapped colleague

Francisca Chioma

Some students from Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra State, are seeking donations for the ransom demanded by kidnappers for their friend and fellow student, Miss Francisca Chioma. Chioma, a student of the Science Education Department, was reportedly kidnapped on her way to attend a burial ceremony. She has been missing since April 5th, causing concern among her peers, friends, and family.

The university's Chief Security Officer, Ken Chukwurah, confirmed the incident and stated that relevant security agencies have been informed. The kidnappers have contacted Chioma's family, initially demanding N10 million but later negotiating down to N2 million with a deadline for payment.

In response, Chioma's classmates and friends are seeking public support and donations to meet the ransom as her family is struggling to raise the required funds. The situation has prompted calls for prayers, advice, and contributions to ensure Chioma's safe release.

Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, urged anyone with information to come forward to aid the investigation into the abduction.
