Utah 'Karen', 48, is charged with sexual battery 'for yanking down 19-year-old girl's skirt in steakhouse after complaining it was so short she could see the teen's pubic hair'
A Utah woman who gained notoriety as a 'Karen' for pulling down a teenager's miniskirt at a St George steakhouse has been charged with sexual battery.
In a viral TikTok video, the woman introduced herself to a group of teenage girls as a state employee after allegedly pulling down one of their miniskirts at Sakura Japanese Steakhouse on Saturday night.
Ida Ann Lorenzo, 48, reportedly warned the alleged victim about her attire, threatening to contact Child Protective Services if she saw any more exposure. Lorenzo later informed the police that she intended to file an indecent exposure report.
The victim's friends defended her, advising Lorenzo not to touch her and pointing out that she was over 18.
Lorenzo, employed under Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes, was booked into the Purgatory Correctional Facility in Hurricane on a single Class A charge of sexual battery, according to court documents filed on Wednesday. She has since been released. The incident came to the authorities' attention after Lorenzo reported it to the police herself on the same night.
Lorenzo explained to the police that the teenager's skirt was 'hiked above her vagina and butt,' exposing her pubic hair. She justified her actions by stating that she intervened as young children were present and the restaurant staff did not address the situation.
After the video of the incident circulated online, Lorenzo called 911 again, alleging a 'threat on her life' due to her status as a state employee, according to the police.
Lorenzo claimed she initially asked the young woman to adjust her skirt, but when ignored, she took matters into her own hands. When questioned about the appropriateness of touching the girl, Lorenzo insisted she only touched her skirt.
However, the police report highlights that such actions constitute criminal behavior. On Monday, the alleged victim reported to the police, describing the incident as a sexual assault that left her feeling violated.
Several witnesses supported the victim's account with corroborating reports. One witness, CC Snow, shared her experience in a TikTok video, detailing Lorenzo's actions and the restaurant manager's response during the altercation with the teenagers.
'It was like a fever dream; it felt surreal, like this couldn't be happening in real life,' Snow added.
