Victoria Beckham’s presentation at Paris Fashion Week encountered disruption by activists from the animal rights group Peta.

The 49-year-old designer, renowned for her past in the Spice Girls, unveiled her autumn/winter 2024 collection on Friday.

The protesters took to the stage during the event, marching alongside the models while brandishing placards bearing the slogan "viva vegan leather".

Their attire bore the message: "Animals aren’t fabric. Turn your back on animal skins."

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) pointed out that although Beckham's brand has shunned fur and exotic skins, it "still utilizes a considerable amount of cruelly acquired leather, particularly calfskin".

The advocacy organization disclosed its similar interventions at Coach in New York, Burberry in London, and Fendi in Milan this season.

Mimi Bekhechi, the president of Peta Europe, emphasized: "No garment or accessory is worth violently slaughtering and skinning a sensitive and intelligent animal."

"We are urging Victoria Beckham to turn instead to the ethical and eco-friendly innovations available today, such as high-end leather made from apples, grapes, pineapples, mushrooms and more."

Beckham made a cameo appearance at the conclusion of the show, gracefully blowing kisses as she traversed the runway supported by crutches.

Her husband, former England footballer David Beckham, had disclosed in an Instagram story the previous month that she had experienced a "little accident in the gym," sharing an image of her foot clad in a boot.

Her latest collection, which "reimagines classic silhouettes" and emphasizes "effortless yet complex constructions," featured a variety of suits, dresses, and other sophisticated ensembles.

The presentation commenced with a model clad in dark, loose-fitting trousers and a shirt featuring sleeves detached from the arms.

While much of the collection adhered to the label's signature style – a fusion of ethereal dresses, precise tailoring, and coveted outerwear – this season witnessed Beckham exploring a more avant-garde direction, incorporating sculptural elements and coats with necklines zipped up nearly to the models' noses.

A notable inclusion was the prominence of tights, both sheer and white, along with high-waisted bell-bottom trousers – a 70s trend also evident at Chloe.

Beckham's shows have often attracted celebrities, with American socialite Kim Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner attending her spring/summer 2023 presentation.
