Wike’s loyalist rejects Fubara’s redeployment, resigns as Rivers commissioner
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara recently redeployed two commissioners, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor SAN and Isaac Kamalu, both loyal to Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. Adangor was moved to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office), while Kamalu was reassigned to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment.
This reshuffle, announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, required the commissioners to hand over to their respective permanent secretaries immediately. The move came amidst a political crisis involving Fubara and Wike.
Previously, both Adangor and Kamalu had resigned along with seven other commissioners during the state’s political turmoil. Following President Bola Tinubu’s intervention and an eight-point truce, Fubara reappointed the resigned commissioners, including Adangor and Kamalu.
Notably, Emeka Woke, another Wike loyalist serving as Commissioner for Special Duties in Fubara’s cabinet, faced uncertainty about his position following these changes.
However, Adangor swiftly rejected his redeployment and resigned from the State Executive Council. In his resignation letter, he criticized Fubara for hindering his duties as Attorney-General by instructing him not to handle certain legal matters against the government.
