Wingstop Employee Arrested for Fatally Shooting Boss in Texas

An employee at a Wingstop in Texas was arrested after shooting and killing his boss.

A Wingstop employee in Texas has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing his boss during an argument, according to police reports.

Marc Leon, 22, was taken into custody Monday night after Irving Police found Christopher Govea dead and another person wounded at the Wingstop on E. Irving Blvd. in Irving, Texas.

Police responded to the restaurant around 7:30 p.m. Monday following reports of a shooting, as reported by Fox 4. Leon reportedly fled the scene but was apprehended within 10 minutes. Authorities also recovered a firearm believed to be used in the incident.

Suspect Marc Leon

An arrest affidavit revealed that the altercation began when Govea, Leon's manager, sent him home early. Leon, a recent hire with less than a month on the job, allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Govea multiple times. Another employee was injured by stray bullets, suffering wounds to the head and leg. Leon has been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Christopher Govea was described by family members as a dedicated worker who held jobs at both Wingstop and a grocery store to support his family. His brother-in-law, Adrian Hernandez, told Fox 4 that Govea worked tirelessly to help his parents, especially since his father was in poor health and his mother couldn't work due to caregiving responsibilities.

"All he did was work. He wanted to get his parents ahead because his dad’s not in good health, and his mom can’t work because she’s taking care of him," Hernandez said. "He just wanted to get them a house. That’s the only reason why he was working two jobs."

Reflecting on Govea’s character and maturity, Hernandez added, "He carried himself with his head held high. For a 19-year-old to be providing for his family like that, it’s incredible."

Hernandez expressed hope that the suspect would repent and contemplate his actions. "He took someone's son, someone's uncle, someone's brother," he said.
