Woman and Seven Others Arrested After Man Found Dead at Birthday Party in Lagos

A woman, Salisu Aishat, and seven others have been arrested in connection with the death of an unidentified man in the Ijora Badia area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro reported that Aishat was celebrating her birthday on Olayemi Street, Ijora Badia, and had invited guests to join the festivities. During the celebration, the victim was suddenly found unconscious on the floor where the event was taking place.

Attendees moved closer to investigate and discovered a wound on the man's head, suggesting foul play. A source, who requested anonymity for fear of victimization, said the incident caused confusion among the partygoers. The source added that a fight had broken out during the party, possibly resulting in the victim's injury.

"The case was reported at the Ijora Badia Division. When policemen arrived at the scene and conducted their investigation, they arrested the celebrant and several others," the source explained.

State Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred around 9:10 pm on April 16, 2024. A concerned community member reported the case to the police.

"Immediately, the DPO led his patrol team to the scene and arrested Salisu Aishat and seven others. A wound was discovered on the head of the corpse," Hundeyin said.

The corpse was taken to the Mainland Hospital morgue in Yaba for preservation and autopsy. The investigation is ongoing.
