Woman Arrested After Video of Prison Officer Engaging in Sexual Acts with Inmate Goes Viral

A woman has been arrested following the circulation of a viral video showing a prison officer apparently having sex with an inmate at HMP Wandsworth. The footage, which surfaced on social media, depicts a woman in a uniform performing a sex act on a man before engaging in intercourse with him inside a jail cell.

The Metropolitan Police initiated an investigation on Friday and announced that a woman was arrested the same day. The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office and remains in police custody. Authorities have stated they are maintaining close contact with the Ministry of Justice.

The video also features the inmate's cellmate filming the encounter on his phone, exclaiming, "Guys we’ve made history, this is what I’m telling you." At one point, someone attempts to enter the cell, but the man filming asks them to wait. He then turns the camera on himself, boasting, "This is how we roll in Wandsworth," and tells his friend, "You know you’re gangster innit!"

The exact date of the incident is unknown, and it has been confirmed that the woman involved no longer works at the prison.

She is understood to have recently quit her job as a prison officer in the South London jail following the scandal

A statement from the Metropolitan Police reads: "A police investigation was launched on June 28 after officers were made aware of a video allegedly filmed inside HMP Wandsworth. A woman was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office on June 28. She has been taken into police custody. Enquiries continue. We remain in close contact with the Ministry of Justice."

An HMP Prison Service spokesperson commented, "Staff corruption is not tolerated and the former prison officer allegedly featured in this video has been reported to the police. It would be inappropriate to comment further while they investigate."
