A woman in Euless, Texas, has been charged with attempted capital murder and injury to a child after allegedly trying to drown another woman's three-year-old child at an apartment complex pool. The incident has sparked calls for a hate crime investigation.

On May 19, Euless Police responded to a disturbance at an apartment complex pool around 5:45 PM. Elizabeth Wolf, 42, was reportedly intoxicated and attempted to drown a child, leading to an argument with the child’s mother.

The Texas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is urging state and federal authorities to investigate the incident as a potential hate crime. CAIR described it as a "bias-motivated murder attempt targeting Muslim children."

Witnesses reported that Wolf questioned the mother, who was wearing a hijab and modest swimwear, about her nationality and the children in the pool. She allegedly made racist remarks, suggesting the mother was not American.

Wolf then tried to grab the woman's six-year-old son, who managed to escape with scratches. Wolf subsequently grabbed the three-year-old daughter and forced her underwater. The child was yelling for help and coughing up water when the mother and a bystander managed to rescue her.

Police arrested Wolf for public intoxication. As she was being taken away in handcuffs, Wolf allegedly threatened the mother, saying, “Tell her I will kill her, and I will kill her whole family.”

The mother, identified as “Mrs. H,” told CAIR that she and her children are American citizens originally from Palestine. She expressed fear for their safety, stating, "I don’t know where to go to feel safe with my kids."

Wolf was later charged with attempted capital murder and injury to a child. CAIR-Austin Operations Manager Shaimaa Zayan criticized Wolf's release on bail, calling for a hate crime probe and a higher bail bond.

A GoFundMe page was created to support the family, raising over $16,000 to help with financial stability as the father had to take time off work to support his wife and children.
