Fredericksburg, Virginia - Authorities have launched a manhunt for Alyssa Jane Venable, 23, who is wanted for the murder of her three roommates. The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office has charged Venable with three counts of second-degree murder and one count of use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The incident occurred at a residence on White Street Court in a rural area of Fredericksburg, approximately 48 miles south of Washington, D.C. The murders were discovered earlier this week when deputies responded to a welfare check at around 10 p.m. on Monday. Upon entering the home, officers found three adults—two males and one female—dead from upper body trauma.

"After further investigation and evidence collection, it was discovered that a roommate had committed this heinous crime," the sheriff’s office said in a press release.

Details remain scarce as authorities are withholding certain information to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation. The identities of the victims have not been released as their next of kin have yet to be notified.

Court records reveal that Venable has a lengthy criminal history dating back to March 2019, including charges of shoplifting, entering property to cause damage, petit larceny, reckless driving, and assault and battery.

The sheriff’s office has classified Venable as armed and dangerous. They urge anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact law enforcement immediately.

Gary Boxley, a neighbor, expressed his shock over the incident in an interview with CBS affiliate WTVR. "I'm blown away... To me, looks are deceiving," Boxley said. "I don’t think it’s going to change anything as far as I’m not putting up a for-sale sign because of this incident. I’m fully aware this stuff happens everywhere and nobody is immune to it."

The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office has not provided additional details or updates at this time.
