In a shocking display, Bionca Ellis, 32, smirked and giggled during her court appearance as charges were read against her for allegedly stabbing 3-year-old Julian Wood to death and wounding his mother, Margot Wood, in a grocery store parking lot in North Olmsted, Ohio.

A week after the tragic incident, Ellis appeared in court with her hands cuffed behind her back. Footage from WEWS shows her fighting back a smirk and smiling multiple times as she faced ten criminal counts, including two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder. The judge indicated that Ellis could face the death penalty if convicted.

During the hearing, Ellis whispered her responses and initially hung her head during the video conference arraignment. When Judge Nancy Russo asked if she intended to plead not guilty, Ellis giggled and replied “Si” before eventually confirming with a “Yes” after the judge pressed her.

Julian's father, Jared Wood, spoke in court, expressing his grief and calling Ellis a "monster." “There’s nothing that could ever replace my son,” he said. The judge set Ellis's bail at $5 million, the maximum amount.

The attack, described by authorities as a "random act of violence," occurred outside a Giant Eagle grocery store around 3 p.m. Officers arrested Ellis at the scene, where she was found holding a knife.

According to a GoFundMe page set up by loved ones, Margot was putting groceries in her car when the attack happened. Julian was remembered as a "sweet little boy" who adored his new baby sister and loved wrestling with his older brother. The family expressed their deep sorrow and gratitude for the community's support, acknowledging the long and difficult road to recovery ahead.
